About

How did I start?

When I was young, I couldn’t read. I remember feeling like I was being left behind and scared. Everyone else understood these symbols called “words” and sentences. I felt defeated and lacking joy. The world felt bleak…

I came home one night to see my sister painting some high school project. As a working adult, I can point out all the issues. As a child? This was pure magic. A fish was coming out of a ripping checkboard floor. On the floor were some nice French tables and chairs (fancy to a child haha). The sun was sitting at one of the chairs while the moon was going over a hill smiling. These complex ideas and I got all of them in an instant. That was the magic of art and what I have been chasing ever since.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I will break this up more, but the truth is life. A mixture of my real life, hobbies, movies, and entertainment. That said, a lot of it has been frustration at the world. Sometimes my voice doesn’t seem to do much and can be hard. So, I create. No matter how scary or bad the day. Things are often better after creating art. It is something I can control; in a world where you can’t control much.

Unprofessional?

I just got out of college and was looking for a job. The fun part is that the year was 2009… the best time. I wanted to do a Sci-fi story, a grand space opera. The issue was that I couldn’t find work which made me feel more and more worthless. I took that anger and wrote this story. It took years of tweaking and changing to get where we are now. After many failed attempts at getting into comics, I decided to give this a shot. Here we are.

Bang: The Ballad of the Tiger?

Years after deciding to work on Unprofessional, I was lucky to get a security job where I could work as long as no one was around. Everything was working fine until I got put on the am. So, there I am half awake on Sunday. I didn’t want to ruin my real comic Unprofessional…so I guess I’ll goof around. Started with character design for a Saturday cartoon. I enjoyed it, then I did a sketch. I enjoy that, okay let’s do five pages. Enjoyed that. I’ve just been having a ball with it and made a lot of pages haha.

Why digital?

The convince and editing. Especially for comics, whatever makes a page faster is better. I love and do most of my art in Clip Studio Paint. I do enjoy doing watercolors and always having a hand in traditional art. I do need to do more, but time haha.
